Here in western NY, we are in the thick of Autumn.  The leaves are in their peak.  This is what the southern tier, WNY is known for-the beautiful enchanted mountains.  Last night we got some rain and when I took Isabelle outside, I could smell the wet leaves.  Such a lovely smell.

These are some photos I took myself on our way up to take my baby sister back to school at SUNY Morrisville on 11 October 2016.  Photos are best viewed full-sized and can be done so by clicking the photos.

And these I took yesterday, 16 October 2016, while out riding around.  Once again , photos are best viewed full-sized and can be done so by clicking the photos.

I hope autumn is as beautiful in your neck of the woods as it is here 🙂

That’s all I got for today.  I’ll catch y’all next time!

I’m Back Plus Some Awesome News!

Hi, everyone!  I manage to make it through August alright and I hope y’all have been good too and have had a great summer and those with kids are gearing up to send theirs back to school either with sadness or abiding anticipation.  Our son, Justin, goes back on 08 September, whereas my baby sister goes back today !!!  Poor girl!

So lots of awesome things happened last month, but the most awesome thing that happened was that I got married!  I am now Mrs. Warner!  Our wedding turned out very nice, especially with all the help we had from our family and friends.  It was a great day and a beautiful ceremony too.  Here are some pictures:

Fast forward two weeks later, I am really loving being married plus I find that it suits me.  I have pretty much forgotten how stressful it was planning this wedding.  I really recommend being married too.  We haven’t had a single issue since we’ve been married.  Things are super!

Oh, I got a new toy….and I kicked the old one to the curb(well, actually Grace wanted it so I gave it to her…she can fight with it lol).  When we were up in Buffalo on our “mini honeymoon” we stopped at Best Buy and we were looking at camera’s and I came home with…

Introducing my new baby, the ‪Nikon‬ P610! It’s a bridge camera with 60x optical range zoom, giving it the status of an ‘ultrazoom’ camera. It retains its predecessors back-illuminated 16MP CMOS sensor for clearer image quality and less noise. The P610 isn’t short on features though. It boasts WI-FI connectivity with NFC pairing for easy image sharing and remote camera control. GPS and GLONASS(which I am really digging) geolocation tagging is also present, so you can map out where your photos were taken and discover points of interest. There is also a flip-out screen, with full HD capture, including it with the video capture, time-lapse movie mode, 1cm micro ability, plus a high level of control customization, it has everything on here. It may be a bit on the bulky side, so you’ll need a camera bag. The Nikon is extremely easy to use and to navigate through the different settings, dependable and reliable, fun to use with lots of cool features, and puts out great picture after great picture. Rated 4.5 across the board, this is easily a $400.00-$500.00. I 💜 it soooo and it makes my ‪‎photography‬ passion even more enjoyable and it takes sooo much better pictures than my old camera ever did and best of all, I don’t have to fight with it to get it to work either.  I have taken some amazing photos with it that I have been posting over at my FB page, Serene View Photography, if you would like to check them out and give my page a like and share for me.  Sadly, I have used up all the free space WordPress has given me over on my photography blog and I cannot afford to pay the $100 to get unlimited space, so I am no longer posting any photos there at this time, so I am currently posting photos on my FB page.

So that’s all I got for now.  I hope everyone is doing well.  I would love to hear how your summer went, so you can leave a comment below if you like and let me know.  It’s great to be back and I will post more content again soon!  Take care.

Hi all!  I hope the weather is such in your area that you’re able to enjoy the beginning of summer, but I’m hearing a lot of snippets from friends around the country who are facing too much water, too little water, baking heat or some combination of the above.  I suspect this year may be one for the record books in some areas.  This weekend we are experiencing rain.  It has rained all day today and tomorrow it is expected to continue.  Monday and the rest of the week it is supposed to be clear and the temps are supposed to rise back up to the normal levels of summer here in western NY.

Through July and August, we are going to be very busy with wedding plans.  We are going to be doing a lot of DIY’ing to defray costs.  There is still so much we have to do to get ready.  We have the rings already.  They came in this past Thursday, so that is taken care of.  Next, we have to sit down and write our wedding vows and then sit down with our officiate to finalize the ceremony.  We have been going up to my Mom and Dad’s almost every chance we can when Chris hasn’t been working to do outside work done and the crafts and stuff.  Chris and my Mom are currently working on the flowerbeds outside.  My Dad is working on breaking the cement up on the back patio to lay down some new cement.  The roof had collapsed this past winter.  Both the roof and cement were original and were put in back in 1890.

Tomorrow we are going to go up and help out as Chris is off on Sundays.  He is going to finish up the flower beds and help Dad out with the laying of the cement, weather permitting, and I plan on working on the bridesmaids gifts.

Because of time constraints, here is what I plan to do about blog posts for July & August.  I want to work on getting some together this week and schedule them to post during the next couple of months so you guys won’t feel like I left you hanging.  I can also post occasionally/periodically on my phone too.  I don’t really want to post a lot of wedding stuff only because I want to leave an element of surprise for you guys and finish up August with a few posts with wedding stuff.

I do have some pictures to share though that were taken in the last two weeks.  We were able to take a few hours and go fishing up at the pond.  Because of the weather and Chris working a lot and spending time up at my parents’ house, we hadn’t had a chance to go up there.  I have posted a few shots from the batch of photos I took there.  We went up last Tuesday, 23 June.  If you would like to see the full batch of photos, then feel free to visit The Serene View.  Then last Sunday, I took some photos in my mother-in-law’s backyard.

I have some ideas for posts that I want to do.  I hope I have time to get them done.  There is a lot going on right now between the wedding stuff, my best friend is having some problems right now, and some other stuff too.  I am also not taking on any more reviews in July or August.  I just simply don’t have the time.  If I don’t focus on this wedding and maintain the right mindset and maintain my self, I am never going to make it through.  Stress is a killer.  I have to remember this…

just breathe

I will be in touch again soon, my dear readers!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

All last week, I was sick.  I had some bronchitis, sinus infection, upper respiratory thingy going on.  I spent most of the week in bed.  Housework piled up around me and the wedding invites were suppose to be put together and sent out and my fiancee worked many hours last week so needless to say, nothing got done around here that was supposed to.

So this week I declared it to be “Heather’s Gets Her S*&t Together Week”.  Not only have I planned to catch up from last week, but I was going to do things that I have had in the works for the last six months or so.  Like craft projects, writing up and scheduling blog posts, working on reviews, seasoning my cast iron pans, cleaned the stove top, etc.  So far, I have gotten some of these things done.

Needless to say, though I felt really accomplished on Monday, I was one very tired but very happy homemaker!

I rewarded myself by going fishing with Chris yesterday.  That was miserable!  Living in western NY, we are blessed once in a while by experiencing all three(or even all four!) seasons in one day.  Yesterday, it was spring, summer, and autumn.  But that is another post for another time.

The wedding invites were postmarked this morning and I cannot wait to unveil them to you guys!  Stay tuned!

What’s Been Going On?

Since I haven’t officially started The Backwater Primer, I thought this is a good day as any.  So let’s dive right in, shall we?

Fall has settled into western NY and the ground is covered with beautiful red, orange, and yellow leaves.  We have the prettiest landscape the east coast can offer here in WNY!

PC_20141021_171450_PerfectlyClear0001 (1)Gone are the long summer days, the warm nights, the pretty flowers.  Now the temperatures have dipped down to the 30s and we have already had our first frost.  I love the colors and decorations of this time of year, but I don’t care much for the other seasonal attributes like the cold, the snow, and just the long winter months.  I wish we could skip right through Autumn and go into Spring.  Or else have a long, ten year summer like in the Game of Thrones.  Oh wait, then we would have ten years of Winter, presumably to give the earth enough time to regenerate herself.  Nah…  I guess there is no way to get out of winter except to move south.  How I do miss the sun when she is gone!

Chris got a raise at work so things should be a little bit better for us.  It’s not much but it sure was heck of a lot better than what he was making prior.  He had an opportunity to leave The Bistro but he decided not to which was the prompting of the raise by his boss, who finally realized how much he needs Chris working for him and what a valuable worker he is.

We are settling in well with our new dog, Isabelle.IMG_20140913_202822 IMG_20140913_220946 IMG_20140922_090017 IMG_20141007_180406Or should I say that she is settling in well.  Isabelle loves to sleep and she especially loves Chris too  🙂  I am so glad we were able to adopt her from the SPCA and give her a forever home  🙂

Today was nice.  50s warm.  I was able to get laundry out on the line and get some blankets washed.  The sun was shining on the line out back and there is a heavy breeze.  It is suppose to be absolutely wonderful on Saturday.  60s…hey, I will take that!

As before, I would like to do some product reviews and try my hand at book reviewing too.  Hopefully some will come my way.

I found some more pictures on my phone that I need to get edited and up on my photoblog.  I have some fascinating pictures of a (an unwelcomed) visitor and others of them that I cannot wait to show you guys.

Tonight for our supper is spaghetti, meatballs, and garlic bread! (yay!)

I hope everyone is having a great Autumn so far.  Thanks for visiting and if you aren’t a follower yet, I invited you to do so to stay up to date with what’s going on around here and what’s to come.  I have some great stuff planned.  Please also give me a like too please  🙂
